Easy Water Marks World Water Day 2025 with Community Celebration

Every year on March 22, the world comes together to celebrate World Water Day, a global initiative that highlights the importance of freshwater and promotes sustainable water management. This observance plays a crucial role in addressing the global water crisis and advancing Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 6, which seeks to ensure water and sanitation for all by 2030.

To mark this year’s World Water Day 2025, Easy Water for Everyone celebrated with the residents of Tomefa, a fishing community in Ghana’s Greater Accra region. The choice of location was symbolic—Tomefa is home to the organization’s largest gravity water station in Africa, a lifeline providing safe, reliable water to hundreds of households.

A Celebration of Culture and Clean Water

The event coincided with Ghana Day at Tomefa M/A Basic School, where students showcased the richness of Ghanaian heritage through traditional attire, drumming, dance, and poetry. The colorful ceremony beautifully intertwined cultural pride with water advocacy, reinforcing the message that clean water is essential for health, education, and community development.

Advocacy for Clean Water and Hygiene

Rev. Seth Johnson, Vice President of Easy Water for Everyone, addressed the gathering, urging parents to prioritize clean water for their children to prevent waterborne diseases. He emphasized proper usage and maintenance of the gravity water station to ensure its longevity. He took the opportunity to acknowledge the founders of Easy Water for Everyone, Dr  Nathan Levin and Linda Donald for their vision, not forgetting donors and partners.

Similarly, Mr. Harrison Matti, Country Director of Easy Water for Everyone, reaffirmed the organization’s commitment to expanding its reach in 2025. He called on individuals and corporate organizations to support initiatives that protect vulnerable groups, particularly women and children, by ensuring access to clean water.

Empowering Girls Through Water Access

A highlight of the event was a session led by Nana Ama Agyeiwaa, a renowned clean water advocate, who educated students on the importance of personal hygiene. She emphasized best hygiene practices for girls, particularly during menstruation, made easier by the availability of clean water. Her message reinforced the connection between sanitation, education, and overall well-being.

Transforming Lives Through Water Accessibility

Speaking at the sidelines of the event, Madam Linda Aboagye, Headmistress of Tomefa M/A Basic School, underscored the positive impact of Easy Water for Everyone’s intervention. “With your support, students now arrive at school on time because they no longer have to walk long distances to fetch water,” she noted. This improvement has enhanced students' learning experiences and overall school attendance.

Commitment to Water Awareness

Through events like these, Easy Water for Everyone continues to champion access to clean water, ensuring that communities are educated and empowered to make the most of available resources. As the organization looks ahead to further expansion and advocacy in 2025, it remains dedicated to making safe water a reality for all.

Join us in our mission to bring clean water to more communities. Together, we can create a healthier, more sustainable future.
